A group of mums from Corby have been busy raising awareness about juvenile arthritis. The have inspired school children and adults alike to wear purple for a day to raise awareness of this debilitating condition. There has been a silly odd shoe day in Hertsmere school; Courtney primary school in Bristol raised over £170 by letting their pupils wear purple; the Corby mums raised £151 at a ladies pamper evening, £121 at a nursery cake sale; Lynette Haslip’s justgiving page has raised over £340, to name but a few events!
Sales of purple t shirts went well, and the children all had fun making posters for the day.
Let’s hope next year’s event is massive and the whole country get on board!
The day was part of National Arthritis Awareness Week, and is now an annual event.
You can still donate at Lynette Haslip’s just giving page, also check out their facebook page #wearpurpleforjia to give you some ideas for next year!
